Originally from Austin, Texas, I started college at Linfield University, and became an Oregonian on the same day. I had never been West of New Mexico before I boarded my plane to Oregon. Once I saw the tall oaks, and Mt. Hood in the distance, I knew I was home.

While in college, I became enthralled with the origin stories of winemakers and winery owners while working as a student archivist for the Oregon Wine History Archives. Over and over again, I heard the tales of passionate people jumping into an industry they knew nothing about, and I knew I wanted to join them. I quickly became immersed in the Willamette Valley wine community working to promote diversity, and equity throughout the region.

My passion for wine continues to this day, but it lead way to my true drive – empowering teams and organizations to achieve their goals through creative problem-solving and multi-generational collaboration.

During my career I’ve been fortunate to serve on many boards and committees including Women in Wine, Our Legacy Harvested, AHI VOY, and Assemblage. I also founded the Diversity, Equity, Belonging and Inclusion Committee at the Willamette Valley Wineries Association in 2018.

I now call NW Portland my home with my partner and three cats, Jane Austen, Hannibal, and Benji. When not working, I love supporting my local shops and restaurants, practicing yoga, flexing my own culinary skills, and volunteering at SCRAP Creative Reuse.

Career Highlights

  • FOUNDED DEB&I COMMITTEE

In 2019, I worked with the Willamette Valley Wineries Association to develop the first DE&I committee at the association level in the wine industry. Since its development, the committee has created a tool kit for its members, hosted regular learning opportunities and open forums to continue the conversation of making wine more accessible.

  • DEVELOPED COMMITTEES

While a Board Member for Women in Wine: Oregon, I co-founded both the Community Engagement and Mentorship committees. These committees are focused on building the community base of the non-profit while providing support to those just joining the industry.

  • INDUSTRY INTERVIEWS

While working at the Oregon Wine History Archive at Linfield University, I had the opportunity to interview over 100 individuals in the Oregon wine industry. Each interview dove into their passion for wine, how they joined the industry, and what’s in the future for Oregon wine.

BRIANA SEELY, GM/VICE PRESIDENT RNDC OREGON
